Get my full estimate

Three steps.

No account, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

1 Survey question 1 of 6, what has been scheduled, with Knee MRI, without contrast selected.

Choose your procedure

Six common procedures, priced at facilities across Los Angeles County.

2 Survey question 4 of 6, how much detail you want to give, with Quick estimate selected.

Add what you know

Your plan type is enough to start. It's okay if you're not sure of the rest.

3 A finished estimate, opening with what you may owe and the range across the facility's published rates.

See how we got there

Every step of the math, what it leaves out, and what to ask before you go.

The not knowing is the hardest part.

You can't change what a hospital charges. You can know before you go, and walk in with the right questions.

Short answers to what people ask first.

Is this a quote from my insurance company?

No. It's an estimate built from prices hospitals publish and the plan details you give us. Only your insurer can confirm what you'll owe, so every estimate ends with the questions to ask them.

What if I don't know my plan details?

That's okay. Choose your plan type and we'll use typical numbers for it, clearly labelled. You can add your exact numbers later.

Where do the prices come from?

Hospitals must publish what each insurer has agreed to pay them. We read those files for three real Los Angeles hospitals and link the source on every estimate. Other facilities here are fictional and labelled.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-in, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

We’ll walk through it with you, one question at a time: what you may owe, what each number means, and where the same care may cost less.
